Join us for a Bhakti Yoga Retreat, led by senior sannyasin (monk) Swami Asokananda, and Narada Williams to explore the devotional practices of Bhakti Yoga that will open and nourish your spiritual heart, including kirtan (mantra chanting), puja (worship), japa (mantra repetition), and more.

Swami Asokananda and Narada are both devoted bhaktas whose wisdom extends beyond the mind and into the heart space. Feel the depth of your own bhav (spiritual devotion) as you spend a weekend immersed in the practices of bhakti. Throughout the retreat, Swami Asokananada will be sharing lectures on the Bhaghavad Gita to further deepen our understanding of yogic devotion.

Bhakti Yoga is the Yoga of love and devotion. It is a spiritual path within the yogic tradition that is rooted in an intense longing for the Divine. Through love, faith, service, and constant remembrance of the Divine—however we conceive of this—we can rise above the illusion of a separate self and experience union with the spirit that dwells dwithin everything.

This program offers:

  • Lectures on the path of Bhakti Yoga
  • Exploration of the Bhagavad Gita
  • Daily group Kirtan and introduction to bhajan (devotional songs)
  • Introduction and practice of traditional puja (worship)
  • Hatha Yoga practices for cleansing and rejuvenation
  • Delicious, vegetarian meals for an enhanced immune system
  • Opportunities to practice Karma Yoga* (selfless service) in various service areas, including the Yogaville Kitchen, Farm, and grounds

* Please bring appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and water bottles for outdoor service.

Testimonials

The talks by Swamiji and the guests were wonderful. I also enjoyed the opportunities to chant and meditate as a group. This was my first time doing a retreat with Swamiji. I enjoyed his humor, storytelling, and clear explanations. — Jivani Lisa Drago

I am always grateful for the chance to spend time with Swami Asokananda and hear his take on Yoga philosophy and living in the current day. He asks thought-provoking questions and finds meaning in what his students have to offer. No matter what the course or lecture topic, he offers help with meditation and yoga “off the mat.” — Amy Weinstein

Swami Asokananda is so knowledgeable and willing to share with honesty. It’s always a pleasure to hear him speak. — Devi Peterson
