HawaH Kasat

Hawah Kasat (HawaH) is an author, poet, educator, community organizer, nonprofit leader, and yogi. Since childhood, Hawah has been studying movement, meditation, and philosophy. With a lineage that traces back to India, his life was split between schooling in New Jersey and Washington, DC while spending long summers in Mumbai. From birth, Hawah has been exposed to the living traditions, culture, philosophy, and practices of his ancestral homeland. For nearly 20 years, he has been teaching Yoga, mindfulness, social-emotional literacy, conflict transformation, the healing arts, and trauma-informed care to all types of students, from diverse demographics, ranging from the Washington Post, law firms, Yoga studios, public schools, international festivals, and youth recreation centers and prisons.

Over the years, Hawah has authored 5 books, produced 4 documentary films, and released 2 music albums. He is the founding editor of The Poetry of Yoga book anthology (published by White Cloud Press), and his documentary film project, Fly By Light, received wide acclaim and awards while touring international film festivals. In the year 2000, Hawah co-founded One Common Unity (OCU), an award-winning non-profit organization that heals cycles of violence and trauma through social-emotional literacy, conflict transformation, mindfulness, music, and arts programming.
