Join Bhaskar Deva for a weekend of Yoga and kayaking down the peaceful James River—connecting with nature, yourself, and new friends. This is a revitalizing way for beginner and intermediate kayakers alike to weave Yoga with the joy of the outdoors.
Each day begins with morning meditation, Hatha Yoga, and, of course, a delicious, hearty breakfast. After an instructional orientation, you’ll launch your kayak, and your adventure down the river begins! Explore many miles of the lush, historic James River under the expert guidance of our trip leaders.
This adventure is designed for your enjoyment. Experience the art of navigating the river by listening to and observing the currents. You’ll stop for meditation on the banks of the river, inspired by the magical sound of the flowing water. Before returning, you will nurture your body with Yoga poses meant to soothe your muscles.
Tuition includes kayak rental.

Prerequisite
Ability to swim and to have fun.
Staff
Skilled staff will guide us in safety and proper paddling each day throughout the trip.
Levels
Beginner to intermediate kayakers are most welcome.
Back up plan
If the river floods (very rare) kayaking will be on a lake.
Please register early for this program as space is limited.
What to bring
The 12 Essentials:
1) Swimsuit
2) T-shirt
3) Sun hat with neck strap
4) Sunglasses with neck strap
5) Sunscreen
6) Lip balm
7) Water shoes (such as Tevas)
8) Gloves (to prevent blisters)
9) Lightweight rain jacket
10) Water bottle
11) Small towel
12) A sense of fun and adventure
Kayaks, life jackets, meals, and water will be provided.
Tentative Schedule
Friday
Evening introductions, orientation, and a special tour of LOTUS–Light Of Truth Universal Shrine
Saturday
Meditation, Hatha Yoga, breakfast, and then kayaking on the James River. The trip starts with 2 hours of kayaking, a break on an island for stretching, meditation, and lunch. Continue with another 2 hours of kayaking. Deep relaxation class, dinner, and evening Satsang program.
Sunday
Meditation, Hatha Yoga, breakfast then kayaking on the river for 1–2 hours. Lunch at the Ashram.
