The Yoga Sutras of Sri Patanjali is the foremost scripture on Yoga. It dates from antiquity, but the wisdom and practices it presents are extremely relevant for modern times and challenges. Explore the Yoga Sutras in-depth with Swami Karunananda in ongoing monthly series on Raja Yoga. Sessions will include lectures, followed by the opportunity to ask questions.

Technological advances and globalization have resulted in an interconnected planet. Events anywhere are affecting people everywhere—and not only people, all creatures, and the environment, itself, are impacted.

How does this relate to us as individuals and Yoga practitioners? Now more than ever, personal practice readily translates into global benefit. Our thoughts, words, and actions have a greater reach and can sow seeds of healing, hope, harmony, and peace.

In its presentation of both the philosophy and psychology of Yoga, the Yoga Sutras offers profound insight into the human condition, the nature of suffering, and how to overcome it. It explores the workings and power of the mind, and how to attain peace, balance, and steadiness within. The basic values at its foundation—such as non-violence, truthfulness, moderation, non-greed, love, and service are crucial for our collective wellbeing.

Among the many topics that we plan to explore are:

  • Yoga Philosophy: “The Mystery and Mastery of the Mind”
  • Yoga Psychology: “Practice and Non-Attachment”
  • Overcoming Obstacles: “Making the Teachings Work for You”
  • Understanding Karma: “Releasing The Ties That Bind Us”
  • The Foundation of Spiritual Life: “Ten Universal Principles”
  • Ashtanga Yoga: “Eight Keys to Peace”

These teachings are a beacon of hope, a fount of wisdom, and a source of guidance for finding true happiness and fulfillment. All are welcome to participate, including both those new to the teachings of Raja Yoga, as well as more experienced practitioners.

Live sessions at 2–3:30 pm (EDT) with a lecture followed by Q&A.
