Yoga of Recovery: Healing the Habits that Bind Us – Weekend
with Durga Leela, E-RYT 500
September 12 - 15, 2019
A weekend option for those who don’t have time to come to the full 7-day offering.
Yoga of Recovery® is the first comprehensive course to combine Ayurveda and Yoga with traditional recovery tools and 12-step principles to offer a more holistic mind, body, and spirit approach to addiction and self-destructive behaviors.
Explore a loving approach to recovery, one that integrates the most effective approaches of the East and the West. Using Yoga and Ayurveda, the science of self-healing, we can change our story from one of suffering to one of healing. During the Yoga of Recovery workshop, you will have the opportunity to engage in yogic practices that appeal to your emotional temperament, including physical practice, devotional practices, self-inquiry, psychology, and philosophy.
Embody your recovery by:
- Practicing Integral Yoga Hatha
- Learning about the roots of addictive personalities and behaviors (6 Tenets of YoR)
- Understanding the chronic stress response and types of stress signatures
- Regulating the emotions with simple self-soothing techniques
- Understanding the cause of disease from a holistic perspective
Private Ayurvedic consultations and body treatments will also be available (additional fee and pre-booking required).
This weekend workshop program is also part of Yoga of Recovery – Module A: Healing the Habits that Bind Us—a longer, more in-depth certification program that is suitable for professionals and coaches who work with those on journeys of recovery.
More Information
Yoga of Recovery invites us to undertake heartfelt self-reflection in regards to our various addictive processes and guides us on how to utilize the many healing aspects of the Vedic sciences in the recovery process.
During the workshop, we’ll look at our own stories, tracing the roots of our addictive behaviors. This approach appeals to all types of people: those in long-term recovery, those reluctant to call themselves an “addict,” those who prefer secular self-help programs over the 12-Step Program, those who are not sure that they have “addiction” but know that they need help with some aspect of their life, those who “do” Yoga; and those who “can’t do Yoga”—that is, everyone!
This program offers recovery tools for people affected by addiction and self-destructive behaviors or for people who have family members with histories of addiction. All age groups and addictive/self-destructive tendencies are addressed.
Prerequisites
Open to all. We suggest at least 3 months of continuous sobriety from alcohol/chemical addiction, as we are not a medical/detox facility (if this is the level of care you need, please seek appropriate help immediately). Please contact us if you feel able to attend in your early sobriety—we’d like to ensure that the program is the best option for you. Those with eating disorders or behavioral addictions (relationships, gambling, spending, etc.) should have enough stability to embark on this work.
Continuing Education (CE) Opportunities

You can input your contact hours using your YA log in information. - Integral Yoga 300-hour Mentored Program: 12 hours towards RYT 500 designation
